Jack | Documentary Newborn Session

This is the kind of photography that I want to be doing.

One day, it occurred to me that I want to give to my clients the kind of photos that I treasure the most - and why not? The more I thought about it, the more it made sense, and the more I realized why I wasn't giving the most meaningful kind of photos to my clients - I treated their sessions differently than I did my own photos. What do I mean by that? The photos that are most precious to me are the candid ones of my children and my family here in our home, the ones that really capture what our life is like, the ones that really preserve us how we are now.

This session was not posed. I simply went over to Jack's Mommy's house and hung out with my camera around my neck, snapping photos when I saw a moment. We talked and laughed and had a really relaxed time. Her house wasn't all cleaned up. No one was dressed up. It was what it was, just the way life is. I can't think of a better way for newborn photos to be.
